Dear Deputy McDonald,

I hope you are keeping well. I am reaching out to you as the leader of the largest government opposition party, concerning the recent audit of RTE conducted by Grant Thornton. The findings have shed light on the inappropriate use of public money, but I believe this is merely scratching the surface.

The current approach of conducting bottom-up reviews only delays the inevitable. It is time to shift our focus and start at the top, working our way downwards. As a strong leader in opposition, I implore you to utilise your position to invoke the services of Grant Thornton for a comprehensive and thorough review of the government and civil service.

By taking this approach, we can uncover the full extent of any financial irregularities and ensure that those responsible are held accountable. It is essential to address these issues head-on and restore public trust in our governance.

I trust in your commitment to transparency and your dedication to upholding the highest standards of governance. Your involvement in initiating a top-down review will send a strong message of accountability and responsible leadership.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I appreciate your efforts in serving the best interests of our country. If you require any further information or if I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to your response.

Yours sincerely,

Ian Croft
